Coin Collectors Beware!
Numis Network Coins – A Brief History Lesson
In order to understand the true value of Numis Network Coins I want to start with a short history lesson!
You have probably heard about the California Gold Rush of 1849. Basically when gold was first discovered in California people flocked from all over the United States to get their hands on their share of the gold. At first there were no laws of ownership of the land, or the gold beneath it, so the Gold was effectively free for the taking! Over time this changed and ownership was placed on the precious metals found underground.
In 1933 it became a criminal offence to trade Gold in any form, except for jewellery and collectors’ coins. This was done to prevent the hoarding of bullion and the illegal acquisition and trading of Gold. Gold has always been viewed as a precious, valuable metal and trading valuable metals is very closely regulated.
In 1934 the Gold Reserve Act was passed, which actually prevented any US citizens from hoarding bullion. Individuals owning gold had to sell it to the US treasury!
Many years later in 1986 the US government issued a new law called the Liberty Coin Act. This offered US citizens a means of collecting precious and valuable metals in the form of collectors’ coins. This meant that US citizens could once again own Gold and Silver, which have always been considered as extremely valuable assets.
Numis Network Coins – Government Issue MS70 Graded Coins
Numis Network distributes the highest grade, MS70 Silver Numismatic Coins. These coins are produced in government mints all around the world. They are guaranteed for both purity and for the weight of silver they contain.
There is, however, an important difference between Bullion and Numismatic coins that you need to understand. Allow me to explain with an example:
Pictured is an MS70 Silver American Eagle Coin from 1986. Isn’t it beautiful?! But how much is it actually worth? This coin’s value is actually $1! It is a $1 coin! If you walked into a shop it wouldn’t buy you anything more than a $1 note would!
However, the value of the ungraded Silver is actually just over $40. Silver bullion is worth around $42 per ounce (this is the weight of this coin). But we are not looking at ungraded bullion here. We are looking at an MS70 graded silver coin. A 1986 graded and certified MS70 silver eagle coin can actually fetch around $700!
The value of an MS70 collector’s coin is determined by its condition, rarity and the demand for that particular coin. As you can imagine, the 1986 coin was the first to be produced and is in very high demand!
All Numis silver coins are the highest MS70 graded silver and some are considered to be quite rare too!
