I am the first to admit that the success rates in Network Marketing are pretty low! As many as 90% of people who join the industry never make their first cheque or earn any commissions from their business! That is a pretty alarming statistic, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t succeed. The way to ensure that you are one of the select few who make decent money in Network Marketing is actually staring you in the face …
We often hear about the benefits of duplication in Network Marketing, but have you ever stopped to acknowledge that there is also a major downside to duplication? It’s true that success duplicates, but the problem is that failure duplicates too! If you model people who are unsuccessful and then teach those ineffective strategies to your downline, then the probability is fairly high that you will fail and so will your team!
The quickest way to succeed at anything in life is to find people who have achieved the things that you want to achieve and to model the methods they used to achieve them. I knew pretty early on in my MLM career that I didn’t want to be cold calling people and to be honest, I didn’t really want to go to the same opportunity meetings and training sessions week-in week-out! That just didn’t seem like a beneficial use of my time! I’m not knocking these methods if you have been successful using them, but I personally wasn’t particularly keen to build my business in this way, so I had very little motivation to use these methods.
I wanted a home-business. Meaning, I wanted to build my business from home and not from a coffee shop, or hotel conference room! I wanted to be able to learn to market my business online so that interested prospects would contact me, instead of me needing to do all the chasing! Learning how to do this with no Internet Marketing experience was never going to be easy, but I was committed to learning exactly how I could achieve it.
Fortunately, my research let me to trainers and mentors who were able to teach me the skills that I wanted and needed to learn. So, like me, I guess you really have 3 options:
1. You can either continue using the same old-school tactics to build your business, which work for very few people (usually those who already have many of the necessary skills for face-to-face selling)
2. You can teach yourself how to promote your business online, generating front end commissions to fund your marketing efforts, leveraging your time and systems
3. You can follow the advice and training of successful Internet Marketers by hunting them down and implementing each and every strategy that they are willing to teach you!
To recap, I believe that the key to your success is to follow people who are able to show you how to get the results that you want. If you continue to follow people who haven’t achieved what you want to achieve then your chances of success are pretty low! It is important to be selective when it comes to listening to advice because failure duplicates in the same way that success does! Do what unsuccessful people do and you can almost guarantee the same result for yourself!
