Network Marketers on and offline are aware of the importance of building a list of contacts. If you are building offline then this list is often friends and family, whereas online your list is made up of opt-in subscribers who have requested information from you. However, what some of the ‘plug and play’ lead generation systems don’t tell you is that you don’t actually own your leads! Your prospects are owned by the system, not you! What does that mean? Well let me explain:

Some lead generation systems will store your contacts in their database. You can access names and email addresses through your back office, which is great, but if you ever moved to a different system, or if the system got shut down, you would lose absolutely everything! Imagine having to start again from scratch!

The good news for Internet Network Marketers is that there are systems available now where the-opt in forms actually direct subscribers into your own auto-responder account. You will have your own account with GetResponse or AWeber and the leads will be added to YOUR list and YOUR database.

The sole purpose of building a list is to create a community of people who are interested in what you have to say. By not taking control of your own list you are leaving your success in the hands of your system! Therefore before you sign up to any lead generation system, be 100% certain that you will own ALL of the leads that you generate!
